Carbocaine 3% Plain is mepivacaine hydrochloride 3% injection, USP, without a vasoconstrictor. It gives local dental anaesthesia by infiltration or nerve block in adults and children.
The plain formula suits patients for whom a vasoconstrictor is not wanted. Onset is 30 to 120 seconds in the maxilla and 1 to 4 minutes in the mandible. Pulpal anaesthesia usually lasts about 20 minutes in the maxilla and about 40 minutes in the mandible.
It contains no methylparaben and the components are latex free. The glass cartridges are terminally sterilised and carry a Mylar label to reduce injury if a cartridge breaks.
The pack holds 50 cartridges of 1.7 ml: 5 blister trays of 10.
